Houshang Tavakoli :We have so many creative actors in Iran

Iran Theater- A veteran actor, Houshang Tavakoli who has acted in Iranian theater, cinema and television for nearly 60 years, wrote a note on the occasion of Actor’s Day in Iranian calendar.

He believes that we did not have so many creative actors before.

He stated:“The 14th of Ordibehesht (May 3,2024) is named as actor's day in the Iranian calendar. This is a sign of the importance of this art in our country and for people who enter the world of theater, cinema and television through this path. Acting has a special importance in the contemporary period with the presence of a new generation of artists.

In the second, third and fourth generation of Iranian actors, we are facing a lot of fans who have more opportunities to show their talent than the previous generations. Acting is a form of artistic expression and development of the mind and imagination, which will show in the best way after being cultivated, but if we deal with it instinctively and accidentally, eventually the result will be nothing but despair and lack of energy. “

He further stated:” Someone who manages to play a role on the stage even for a few times, is an artist who enters the imaginary world of theater, and it's a pity if he has talent, his talent is lost; So theater activists should increase their knowledge and awareness and challenge themselves by studying and searching in this field.”

Tavakoli emphasizes that the growth of acting art in Iran depends partly on the artists and partly on the artistic management of the country.

“Cultural officials should provide a room for growth by increasing infrastructure and educational opportunities in the public and private arenas; Because artists are not able to provide infrastructure parts. Artists are introducing themselves and cultural authorities should prevent irreparable loss of opportunities in this field by creating conditions for growth. We in Iran have never had so many positive and creative talents in the field of acting in the past. This generation brings out the maximum creativity on the stage with minimal facilities, and veteran actors should definitely accompany them by transferring experience.”

In the end, Tavakoli emphasized that "if an experienced artist cannot pass on his experience to future generations, he has left his mission incomplete. The young generation should be eager to learn and ask theater veterans to pass on their experiences."
